“老後”と一口に言っても理想のライフスタイルは人それぞれ。何才まで働くか、家族とはどうかかわるか、どこに誰と住むかなどによって、老後資金として必要な金額は変わってくる。自分が思い描く生活には、いったいいくらかかるのか。そしてそのためには、いつまで働けばよいのか──。

フルタイムで75才まで夫婦で働く

　人生100年時代といわれて久しい現代では、かつては「引退」の年だった60才も単なる折り返し地点に過ぎず、内閣府の発表によれば7割近く（60～64才）が何らかの仕事に就いている。プレ定年専門ファイナンシャルプランナーの三原由紀さんが語る。

「高齢者の就業率は伸びており、65～69才でも2人に1人が、70才を超えてなお、約5人に1人が働いています。一方、『2000万円問題』のモデルケースは『年金以外の収入がない夫婦ふたり暮らし』の世帯。つまり、年を重ねても働くことを選択すれば、老後資金をやみくもに貯める必要はないということ。極端ですが、たとえ貯蓄がゼロであっても仕事さえしていれば最低限の生活は保障されると考えられます」

　とはいえ、「生涯現役」は体に負担がかかることも事実。平均寿命が大きく延びたいま、いつが「引退」の“損益分岐点”になるのか。ファイナンシャルプランナーの黒田尚子さんは、このひとつの区切りを「75才」だと話す。

「フルタイムで75才まで夫婦で働いて、支出が収入の範囲内なら、99才まで貯蓄残高がゼロになることは試算上ほぼありえないと言っていい。

　妻がパートタイムの仕事をしていて、60代前半に赤字になった家庭も、年金を受け取れば黒字化します。そもそも貯蓄はいつか使うために貯めているものですから、途中で収支がマイナスになって貯金を取り崩すことになっても慌てる必要はないのです」

横浜市立大学大学院生命ナノシステム科学研究科 関本奏子准教授、米海洋大気庁（NOAA）、米航空宇宙局（N A S A）の共同研究グループは、北米西部の山火事から発生する揮発性有機化合物（VOC）の種類と量は、燃える植物の種類よりも燃焼温度による影響が大きいことを見出しました。このことにより、衛星観測で得られる燃焼温度の情報を元に、山火事に由来するVOC発生量を推定する新たなフレームワークを提唱します。

本研究成果は、ACS（アメリカ化学会）発行の環境系雑誌「Environmental Science & Technology」に掲載されました（2023年8月23日公開）。

研究成果のポイント

研究背景

近年、日本を含む世界の様々な地域で森林火災（山火事）が多発しています。森林火災で発生する揮発性有機化合物（Volatile Organic Compound; VOC）は、その地域の環境汚染や気候変動に多大な影響を与えるとされますが、大気汚染物質である対流圏オゾンや二次有機エアロゾルの生成メカニズムの解明や発生量の予測モデルの構築は、大気化学における近年の重要な課題となっています。植物が燃焼する際に発生する生成物は、何が燃えているかだけでなく、燃焼形態（例えば有炎燃焼や無炎燃焼など）によっても異なることが知られていて、これらの形態は同時に現れますが、各々の寄与率（燃焼中にどの形態がどの程度起こるか）は、時間毎、かつ植物の状態によって変わります。そのため、時間毎、かつ火災毎に変動するVOC発生量の予測は極めて困難とされています。

VOC発生量の評価には、これまで燃焼効率（Modified Combustion Efficiency; MCE）がパラメータとして使われてきました。MCEはCO2とCOの量によって決定され、有炎燃焼や無炎燃焼の相対的な寄与率を表します。植物が燃え始めてから燃え尽きるまでの一連の燃焼時間内で観測される、MCEの平均値とVOCの平均発生量には相関があると云われていますが、ほぼ全てのVOCにおいて、燃焼中の瞬間的な発生量はその瞬間のMCEには相関しないという問題がありました。これはすなわち、MCEは本来、VOC発生量の評価や測定に適したパラメータではないということを意味しています。したがって、VOC発生量を高精度で推定できるパラメータの探索が、喫緊の課題となっていました。

研究内容

このような背景のもと、NOAAとNASAの大規模研究プロジェクトFIREX-AQが2016年より始まりました（https://csl.noaa.gov/projects/firex-aq/）。2016年にFire Sciences Laboratory（モンタナ州ミズーラ）で行った植物燃焼実験で、関本准教授らのグループは、プロトン移動反応質量分析法と、関本が開発したVOCの網羅的定量法を組み合わせて、さまざまな植物を燃焼させた際にどのようなVOCがどれだけ発生するかを測定しました。それらのデータを正値行列因子分解＊1（Positive Matrix Factorization; PMF）により解析したところ、VOCの瞬間的発生量は2つのVOCプロファイル（高温または低温熱分解プロファイル）の組み合わせで高精度に評価でき、この結果は、燃える植物の種類に依存しないことを明らかにしました（Sekimoto et al., Atmos. Phys. Chem., 2018）。

これらの実験室内で得られた結果が、野外での実際の山火事に適用できるかを確かめるため、2019年の夏にNASA DC-8を用いた航空機観測が北米西部で行われました。8つの異なる山火事のVOCを同様に測定、解析した結果、高温・低温熱分解プロファイルの組み合わせによって、山火事から直接発生するVOCの種類と量を70%以上の精度で表現できることを見出し、さらに、高温・低温熱分解プロファイルの相対的寄与率は、衛星によって観測される「fire radiative power (FRP)」に相関することが明らかになりました。FRPは燃焼温度に相関することが知られています。したがって、山火事に由来するVOCの発生量は、燃える植物の種類よりも燃焼温度による影響が大きいと結論付けられました。

今後の展開

本研究により、山火事に由来するVOCの発生量は、衛星観測で得られるFRPと２つのVOCプロファイルから正確に予測することが可能になりました（図1）。この成果は、山火事に由来する大気汚染物質の発生メカニズムの解明等に貢献できると期待されます。

Y!mobileの新料金プランでは、通信量と料金に加え、割引条件も変わる。ライバルとなるUQやirumoとも比較して、その内容を詳しく見た。

ソフトバンクのサブブランド「ワイモバイル」が好調だ。その理由は徹底的に「シンプル」にこだわっているからだろう。

　もっとも、この「固定回線セットの割引」適用後の料金を積極的にアピールしているのは、Y!mobileだけの話ではありません。というか、MNO3社＋サブブランド（ドコモ「irumo」を含む）の主力プランすべてで当てはまります（ahamo／povo／LINEMOのオンライン専用プラン、UQ mobile「コミコミプラン」は固定回線セットの割引はなし）。以下は、各社の料金紹介ページを開いたところです。青枠が本来の料金、赤枠が割引後の料金、緑枠が割引の条件になります。

　これを見てもらえればわかるように、すべての例で割引前より割引後のフォントサイズが大きくなっています（実は、開始前の予告となっている「シンプル2 S／M／L」だけはフォントサイズは同じです）。もちろん割引前の料金もしっかり示しているとは言え、割引後の料金をより目立たせていることは間違いないと思います。

集合住宅では固定回線は選択の余地がないことも多い
セット割引自体が悪いわけではないのだが……

　今回、固定回線セットの割引を取り上げるのは、日本の住環境、特に集合住宅に住んでいる場合、選択の余地がない人が多いからです。

　筆者のアパートがまさにそうなのですが、光回線は「auひかり マンションタイプ」の一択（ちなみにアスキースマホ総研のスピーディー末岡も同じとか）。auやUQ mobileの割引は受けられますが、ドコモ／ソフトバンクの割引は対象外です。また、固定回線セットは、ドコモ「home 5G」やUQ WiMAX、SoftBank Airといったモバイル回線を利用したサービスでも対象ですが、普通に安定して使える光回線があるのに、これらを追加で契約する理由は特にありません。

　もちろん固定回線セットの割引自体を否定するわけではないのです。「複数買ったら値引き」は、あらゆる商取引で一般的なことですから。でも、少なくないユーザーがそもそもその選択ができないのにも関わらず、固定回線セットの割引後の料金を各社が前面に押し出すのは、やはり“微妙”というほかないと思うのです。あくまで通常料金あっての割引料金のはずです。

　キャリア各社のこうした料金の伝え方にはネット上でも意見はいろいろあり、「国が対応すべきだ」という声も見られますが、なにかと行政に頼るのは、個人的には常に適切なやり方とは限らないという考えです。ただ、「こういうのは微妙だ」とは今後も積極的に伝えていきたいとは思っています。

　Y!mobileが10月以降に開始予定の新料金プラン「シンプル2 S／M／L」を発表し、ネット上では「実質値下げ」「いや値上げ」「他社よりシンプル」「割引の条件が厳しい」と、さまざまな意見が見られました。

マクラーレンF1、“肝っ玉が大きいルーキー”のピアストリに大きな期待 - F1-Gate.com

マクラーレンのCEOであるザク・ブラウンは、オスカー・ピアストリのこれまでのルーキーシーズンの印象的な活躍を「非常に印象深い」と称賛し、大きな期待を寄せている。

ブラウンは以前、マシンが開発不足でパフォーマンスが不足していた序盤、22歳のピアストリが初陣でたった3つのグランプリをおえただけで、将来のF1チャンピオンになると宣言した。

それ以来、ブラウンはピアストリが見せるパフォーマンス、彼の持つ能力、そしてトラックの内外で見せる彼の気質が、先の主張をさらに証明していると感じている。

チームのウェブサイトに掲載されたコラムで、ブラウンは、マクラーレンがピアストリを起用したことについて「その選択は正しかった」と断言している。

「オスカーに関しては、彼の忍耐力と自信という、非常に印象的な点がいくつかある」

「彼はとても物静かで、金曜日には勉強している。新しいサーキットもあるけが、そのギャップはどんどん縮まっている」

「金曜日のモナコではランドから0.5秒離され、『ここでは限界を探ることはできない。もし限界を探れば壁にぶつかってしまう』と言っていた」

マクラーレンのF1チーム代表のアンドレア・ステラは依然、ノリスとピアストリが、特にフィードバックとクルマに求めるものに関して、いかに似ているかについて言及したことがある。

それは開発やアップグレードに関して、マクラーレンにとって非常に有益なことだ。

ブラウンは、以前ノリスと元チームメイトのカルロス・サインツがそうであったのと異なり、ピアストリとはトラックから離れると親友ではない可能性があることを認識しているが、パートナーシップは機能している。

そして、ブラウンは、ピアストリが今シーズンの残りのレースでノリスとの差を縮めていくことを期待している。

「今のランドは、チームメイトにもう1人のランドがいるような気分になっていると思う。それが二人を追い込むことになるだろうが、それは非常に健全な方法だ」とブラウンは付け加えた。

「そして彼らはとても仲良くやっている。それはカルロスとランドとは異なる関係だ。彼らはいつも外出してゴルフをしていた」

「ランドとオスカーの関係は、もう少しビジネス的だと言える。だが、彼らは素晴らしい関係を築いているし、今年すでに数回お互いに激しいレースをしたとき、彼らは両方とも協力していた」

　岡崎市恵田町の恵田小学校で7日、恒例のブドウ狩りがあった。地域の農家に教わりながら、6年生6人が丹精込めて育てたシャインマスカット。そのみずみずしさに、下級生らは目を輝かせながら収穫した。

　学区内に観光農園が多い同校では、1978年からブドウ栽培を開始。今年も6年生が5月から、種なしブドウにするための処理や果粒数の調整、袋がけなどをして、約100房を育て上げた。...

5-Daysこども図書館（広島市こども図書館）の所蔵するベル・コレクションの中から、大きさの違いを楽しめる「大きい？小さい？本」を紹介します。

※ベル･コレクションとは
5-Daysこども図書館（広島市こども図書館）が所蔵する、外国で出版された本のコレクションです。昭和24年（1949年）、ハワード･ベル博士を通じてアメリカ合衆国から贈られた本（714冊）を中心に、978冊あります。当時のアメリカ合衆国で読まれた子ども向けの物語や知識の本、絵本なので、ほとんどが英語で書かれています。このコレクションは、広島市に子どものための図書館ができるきっかけになりました。
このコレクションのうち、電子ブック化した32点については、2階のしらべるへやでご覧いただけます。

文部科学省は、統一教会が解散命令請求の要件にあたるかどうかの検討を続けています（写真：Ystudio／PIXTA）

安倍元首相殺害事件に端を発し、統一教会の人権侵害と不法行為が露わになり、それを支えてきた政治家たちとの関係が問われるようになった。多くの事実関係が明らかになっているが、このような事態が生じるに至った歴史的経過については必ずしも十分に示されてきたとは言えない。同時に、統一教会は世界各地に広がっているが、日本以外では大きな被害が生じたことはない。どうしてこのような事態が生じたのか。
「解散命令」の可能性も含め日々報道がなされている「統一教会問題」を、歴史的・国際的文脈から多角的に論じた『これだけは知っておきたい 統一教会問題』の編者で宗教学者の島薗進氏が解き明かす。

解散命令が求められるような教団だから悪を具現したような存在と決めつけてよいのか。日本の宗教史から見ていくと、社会からの激しい非難を浴びた教団の処遇というと、戦前の大本のように「宗教弾圧」という視角から捉えられた時期が長かった。1995年にオウム真理教地下鉄サリン事件が起こって、「危険な宗教の取り締まりは当然」というような考え方が主流になっているようだが、それよいのだろうか。

宗教2世の窮状が問われているが、宗教団体に属する家庭で育った子どもたちが一様に苦難を負っていると捉えることでよいのだろうか。また、統一教会がジェンダー・バックラッシュを進める宗教団体の代表のように扱われているが、それは妥当だろうか。宗教団体の家族重視の姿勢は広く見られるものであって、とくに際立ったものではないのではないか。広く新宗教にも家族を重んじる考え方は見られるのではないか。

為替の動向と物価への影響をよく見ていきたい－中村日銀委員 - ブルームバーグ

日本銀行の中村豊明審議委員は31日、為替市場で円安が進行していることについて、「物価への影響という点でみると大きい。為替の動向と物価への影響をよくみていきたい」と語った。岐阜市で記者会見した。

　　為替は金利差だけで動くという単純なものではないとし、「中期的に考えれば、経済のファンダメンタルズに沿って収れんしていく。金融政策のターゲットには当然ならない」と指摘。円安は輸出企業やインバウンドなどにメリットがある一方、内需関連や家計にはネガティブな影響があると説明した。

　　植田和男総裁は、前回７月の金融政策決定会合で決定したイールドカーブコントロール（長短金利操作、ＹＣＣ）政策の運用柔軟化に際し、金融市場のボラティリティー抑制について「為替市場も含めて考えている」と発言しており、市場では為替動向と金融政策運営の関連に注目が高まっている。

　　外国為替市場では、日米の金利差などが意識される中で29日の海外時間に一時１ドル＝147円台まで円安が進んだ。

　　中村委員は、ＹＣＣの運用柔軟化に反対票を投じたことに関して、「出口戦略の一環ではなく、方法自体に反対したわけではない」と説明。市場の混乱によって中小企業の賃上げや投資に対する意欲がそがれる可能性を懸念し、「タイミングは今ではないと考えた」と語った。

　　その上で、柔軟化後の市場に「今のところ大きな混乱は起きていない」とし、むしろ市場機能が再び低下してしまうことが避けられていると評価した。ＹＣＣ自体は「持続的な回復が続けば本来ならばいらない政策だ」としつつ、デフレマインドから脱しにくいムードが残っている現状では「今はまだその時ではない」と語った。

　　マイナス金利政策の解除など金融政策の正常化の条件については、物価上昇がコストプッシュ型から需要拡大に基づいたディマンドプル型に転換することや、持続的な賃金上昇が見通せることなどを挙げた。もっとも、そうした方向に着実に歩んでいるという状況変化が重要と述べ、機械的に判断できるものではないとの見解も示した。

　　中村委員は午前の講演で、物価の上昇が賃金上昇につながる前に金融引き締めに転換すれば、需要が抑制されて「企業の稼ぐ力が再び低下しかねない」と述べ、当面は現在の金融緩和を粘り強く続ける必要があるとの認識を示していた。
